The Grouse Grind® is a 2.9-kilometre trail up the face of Grouse Mountain, commonly referred to as “Mother Nature’s Stairmaster.”
No word of a lie, I felt the burn on Sunday as I challenged myself and my friends to do this mountain “for fun”. Not knowing what to expect as we had never done it before, it was definitely worth the Coca-Cola at the top!
We were heaving before we had even reached 50 steps. And the idea of turning back wasn’t an option for any of us. So we 3 ladies walked. And walked. And walked. While we started out together, myself and my friend Pamela finished together. Our third member finished at her own pace because we all have our own strengths and weaknesses. But the fact that we finished was the main thing.
If this mountain wasn’t so far away from my house, I would definitely do it every 2 weeks just for kicks and to stay healthy and fit. But with the price of gas, and the fact that it takes about an hour to get here from my house, it really isn’t feasible. But maybe once in a while it would be good to trek with friends and family.
