New Year Resolutions Goals

January 6, 2017

The new year is a time to reset – and I think we can all agree that when January 1st came – it was time to “start afresh”. That’s an interesting concept of time because why do we have to wait until January 1st to get real about the work we need to do to be a better version of ourselves? I pose this question to you, but I had to ask myself that same question in order to write this piece. As a result of my question, I summed it down to this: Self-improvement is never a bad thing, but it shouldn’t be something that has to wait until January. Continue Reading…

Andra Day

December 22, 2016

Where: The Commodore

When: Monday, December 12, 2016

Before I get into much more detail about Andra Day, I first must mention her opening act – the sensational sisters Chloe x Halle. These two angels set the tone of the evening with a short and sweet set. Their vocals – individually – blew me away – and together – I was left speechless. Her candidness just made her more appealing (if you didn’t like her already) because she was just being herself. In addition, the venue was so intimate and it offered that … something extra, that you don’t necessarily get at an arena show, which again, added to the sensuality of the show.

Musically, she is phenomenal. Her vocal range is just on another level of soulful R’n’B.  She has a powerful voice that reaches yo – right there in your gut – it just takes your breath away. It’s so honest and raw and has so much depth. I can’t stop gushing! Continue Reading…
